Blooming Direct opens fulfilment doors in Jersey

Fulfilment from Jersey is being offered by a new name to the third-party market, Blooming Direct. The rather arresting name, which might seem appropriate enough for any product, has its origins in the company's horticultural background, but managing director Joel Richardson told Fulfilment & e.logistics the company is happy to consider handling any compatible products.

The company's fulfilment operation has grown in support of its own online horticultural business, and it has already picked up third-party business in that sector from customers such as Mr Fothergill's Seeds of Suffolk.

Richardson says the company has its own in-house IT department, which can tailor systems to clients' needs. It offers a complete pick and pack operation, plus labelling and invoice printing, stock control and IT consultancy.

We understand that key target users would be companies selling high volumes of products whose value comes below the £18 VAT-free threshold applying in the Channel Islands. Despite repeated attempts by mainland lobby groups to have this VAT concession outlawed by the UK Government, it remains available to properly qualifying businesses, and Blooming Direct reckons there are still attractive opportunities for fulfilment here.

The company is based at St Martin, Jersey.
