Actinic seeks to support larger businesses
Actinic, the e-commerce and storefront specialist that has always focused on affordable solutions for smaller and medium-sized etailers, has launched a bid to support customers who want to 'take their business to the next level', as the company puts it.
The move takes the form of two developments - the creation of a specialist unit within the company called Business Services, and the launch of a new product called Actinic Enterprise.
The business unit offers features such as tailored Actinic solutions; high-level technical support, with the option for an on-site service; and expertise in areas such as system development and integration, site design and management, hosting and payment services and search engine optimisation.
The company moved some way towards multi-channel integration with the launch this spring of Actinic Business 8.0, which included EPOS capabilities developed by acquired business Checkpoint, as well as better logistics integration.
However, the Enterprise suite takes this initiative further, and is described as Actinic's first dedicated e-commerce/mail order/telephone order/EPOS product.
Fundamental to it is a switch to the Microsoft SQL Server database platform, which Actinic says will bring increased capacity and scalability. Other features include configurable summary screens; the ability for multiple users to manage catalogues and update customer details; and integration with Postcode Anywhere and YESpay (for real-time credit card processing). Integration of e-commerce and EPOS systems has also been developed further.
